IRS $1400 Seniors Checks Eligibility
The per-person checks of $1400 were announced after the American Rescue Plan was passed by the House and the Senate. People having dependents received $1400 stimulus checks per person. This included any college students and seniors who were claimed as dependents.
Those who had a single filing status making less than $75,000, married couples filing jointly making less than $150,000, and head of household filing status making less than $112,500 were qualified for the stimulus checks. A person who was earning up to $80,000 was paid partially.
For example, if a person had a single filing status, had an income of $24,000 and had no dependents, they received $1400 stimulus checks. And if a person had a married filing status, had an income of $65,000, and had no dependents, they received a total of 2 stimulus checks of $1400 each (total of $2800).
If a person had an income of $100,000, had a married filing status, and had 2 dependent children under the age of 6, they received four stimulus checks of $1400 each (total of $5600). In addition, they might also have received $3200 in Child Tax Credits.
If a person had a Head of Household filing status, had 3 dependent children under the age of 6, an income of $55,000, and were a single parent, they received a total of 4 stimulus checks of $1400 each (total of $5600) and additional $3000 in Child Tax Credits.
However, if a person was retired, had 0 income, 0 dependents and had a married filing status, they received two stimulus checks of $1400 each (total of $2800).
Furthermore, the payments were easy to track, as the IRS provided a tool to check the status of the stimulus payments. This allowed people to learn whether they would receive the stimulus payment or not.
